This small book has been addressed to those doctors who take care of children, although they are not qualified as consultant pediatricians. They include students, junior doctors working in various capacities in Pediatrics, and private practitioners working in different parts of the region. The first edition, entitled ‘Guide to Pediatric Intensive Care’, was published three years back. Care has been taken to describe diseased in a nutshell: obviously a consultant will know much more off-hand. But, of about 40% young population of this country, consultants see only a small percentage, the rest have to be attended by others. Of course, because medical science is so dynamic, and Pediatrics so vast, many things mentioned here will have changed by the time the year is out. Both textbooks and recent advances need to be studied from time to time. I hope this effort will give them some needed know-how of managing children.
